Week 7 - Pictures!

Bem rápido [Very quick]!!! The field is HARD and amazing!!! It´s hard to only understand parts of what is happening around you, but that only makes it that much more of a triumph when you can hold a conversation or teach or give a ...compromisso (no time to remember the word in English) [commitment]. My companion is Sister Costa. I´ll actually only have her for half of my training because she's dying after this transfer (going home-she's finishing
her mission this transfer). This email, I mostly just want to talk about pics. Tudo bem? Kay....

First day!!! Dork dot and all!!!!

The CTM!!! Que bonita!!! (Yup that´s inside and outside)

Sunsets every night

Irmã and Irmão Silva: They are amazing. So amazing. I really love them so much. They´re married, and I had Irmã Silva as my teacher in my first district and Irmão Silva in my second. Que engraçado [how funny]!

Irmã Tamiris: Like I said, my angel. She is the person who made Brazil home for me. She has the warmest, sweetest heart and spirit, and a testimony like none other. She is an incredible teacher (language and the gospel), and she listens to the Spirit and always says EXACTLY what is needed. She is so much of my inspiration here in the field; I want to follow her example! On our last day, her gift to us was that she bore her testimony in English. I could NOT have asked for a better gift. That testimony summed up everything I needed to learn in the CTM. It wasn´t perfect, but that is exactly WHY it was perfect. It was simple, and it touched me deeply. It held her whole heart, and that was the gift she gave to us. I want to teach like that. I may not be able to speak perfectly, but I will give my heart, and the Lord will make of that as He will.

1st district
2nd district

My first distrito [district] at the Campinas temple

Sister Scholes and I

Me! ;D

My first district on our last P-day. Irmã Tamiris (in the middle) took us out on our p-days to show us cool places and things and foods- sorvete and açai...the best! She wore the sponge bob shirt that day because we joked that one of our elders laughed like him, and she thought to wear it out for our last p-day to honor our inside joke. I tell you, she´s an angel!!!

Sister Scholes and I with Irmã Tamiris

Us. Yup. this was our companionship...

President and Sister Swensen. They are amazing.

Irmã Araujo. I LOVE HER SO, SO MUCH I CAN´T EVEN TELL YOU!!! I was actually scared of her at the beginning (whoops...haha..). She is one of the official people with a walkie talkie, and was always in "todos os lugares" to catch you if you were speaking English (or Spanish). She would pump her fist and chant "por-tu-guês, por-tu-guês, por-tu-guês." As time went on, we became best friends through a series of events, and I look up to her so much! (And we, of course, pumped our first with her. Para sempre! ;D)

Irmão Severo: He wasn´t actually ever our teacher. Just our friend. A great one! He is one of the most reflective and profound people I know. I learned SO much from him!!!! He´s awesome!

Our house!!!! Teeny tiny, simple, and perfect!

My desk. And lest any of my CTM friends should worry, I still have plenty of stickynotes everywhere.
